First Day Greeting

Yesterday was the first day working the Greeter position at the entrance and checking receipts at the exit. The first half of my shift between 8:30 AM and 2 PM was at the entrance and we had to spend a lot of time wiping down wet baskets from the rain the night before as members came into the Club. That, hopefully, won't be a regular detail. That part of the job is the easiest. The second half of my time was spent at the exit checking out members and validating their receipts against what was in their baskets. Of course, when a basket is full it is impossible to check every item. In those cases, we check the bottom of the basket to make sure the items were charged, and we also check the high priced items to make sure they are accounted for. I found one error on my first day which was an item in one woman's basket that was scanned at the wrong price. It happened to be a sale item that was scanned at the regular price.

The Club offered up free lunches which they do on occasion. They put out a nice spread in the break area for anybody that wanted a Sub. This is what it looked like:

I'm not sure how often they do this, but it is a nice gesture and they had a sign in the break area Friday reminding everybody that it would be free-Sub day.

I'm into the job now and Josie snapped this photo of one of the newest Greeters at Sam's Club #4732 in Glendale:

I work from 1:30 to 7 PM today while Josie is off again. She filled the day yesterday with baking cookies and working on her crochet projects. It is really cool outside this morning - 48 degrees - but at least the rain is gone and, so far, there is no wind...
