We had our conference call with the relocation department at Holiday Retirement at 9:30 yesterday morning. It was a fruitful discussion as far as determining what is covered - just about everything except meals - and what the logistics would be for packing and shipping our things from storage. We ended the conversation with to-do items for each of us to get things rolling.
We made some preparations outside - putting away the chairs, packing away the grill and checking out the truck. Josie did laundry and I spent most of the rest of the day planning the details of our trip west.
It looks like we will take 15 days from the time we leave here on Tuesday the 20th to arrive in Surprise, AZ on the 3rd of January where our storage unit is located. That gives us 5 days (before training) to sort through the storage unit and get things ready to be moved to CA following our 2 week training in either Dallas or Denver. We also decided to stop in Memphis, TN on the way to visit Graceland since it was on the way south to New Orleans where we will spend Christmas. We will stay extra nights in Memphis (1), New Orleans (2), San Antonio (1) and Las Cruces, NM (1). We have reservations at the French Quarter RV Resort in New Orleans which is one block away from the French Quarter. It is expensive, but our campground fees are covered by the relocation and, since we did not take our trip to Puerto Rico we figured we had some extra funds to enjoy a few places along the way. We will be following I-10 the whole way west from New Orleans with stops in Houston, San Antonio, Fort Stockton, Las Cruces and Tucson before arriving in Surprise. It should be an enjoyable trip.
We're in the "Final Four". That means only 4 days of work before we call it quits here at Amazon. It's tough getting up at 4 AM to go to work but the end is upon us. Today is the final Friday...
