One thing I intended to mention but kept forgetting was a turkey that we had prepared following Thanksgiving. Every year, regardless of where we eat our Thanksgiving dinner, we prepare a turkey dinner - with all the fix-ins - to have for the week or so following the holiday. There is nothing like turkey leftovers and the only way we can have them is to prepare our own. The question we ask every year is: since we love turkey so much, why do we only have one at Thanksgiving and not during the rest of the year? Who knows, but we really enjoy the leftovers for the week after the holiday. The rest of the turkey is now ready for the soup stage after enjoying turkey sandwiches at lunch for the last several days.
Two more days this week and then the sled picks up steam for the final 2 weeks. Those will be normal, four day weeks, so we will be down to just 8 more work days - assuming our final day will be Monday, December 19. This has been an especially long week with the extra day on Thursday. Fifty hours a week of this is not our idea of fun.
It went to 64 degrees yesterday and was sunny when we left work at 4:30 PM. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it holds for the remainder of this week as we would like to get some shopping done while we are off. So far, we have only dipped into the high 20's for a few days, for a short time, which is fine with us. No problems with frozen valves and water spigots - yet...
