After 101 days of work and nearly 6 months at the same location, the end is finally here. The fat lady has her hand on the microphone and is ready to sing. There were many days when we didn't think the end would ever arrive, but persistence and dedication to the goal has paid off. We should be going into our farewell meeting at work sometime around 3:15 PM today to turn in our badges - and my vest - and any other company owned items. There are many folks that will be missed, and a few that we will not be sorry to leave behind. One thing we cherish as we work around the country are the friendships that are created that will last a lifetime.
Here we are at the end of another workamper experience - the longest ever - and we are looking forward to launching our next chapter. There is much to do to get ready to hit the road again tomorrow, but the anxiety will make it seem like a walk in the park. Our plan is to have coffee with Rodger and Sue in the morning before we get ready to leave as they end their day - night, actually - after working a 12 hour shift.
Tonight will probably be the best time for us to get most of the inside ready for travel. There are outside chores to do tomorrow - load the truck with the chairs and grill, get propane and check all the tires - before heading out to Dickson, TN, our first stop along the road to AZ.
It's with both sadness and relief that we are preparing for our final day here, but the joy of achieving our goal and looking forward to our new adventure makes it a special day...
