It was a very nice experience at the Marriott hotel in Houston. The room was excellent and the dinner we had at the restaurant in the hotel was also excellent. The food vouchers we were given by the airline covered 100% of our dinner, which included 2 glasses (each) of wine. We also had a leisurely breakfast buffet - also covered by the vouchers - at the same restaurant before heading to the airport for our 10:55 AM flight back to Louisville.
Once again, it was one those tiny airline express jets that we had to travel on, and I took these shots to show just how small they really are. The first is of a similar plane that was next to ours:
The interior was very cramped as you can see below:
There were only 3 seats across in each row, a very narrow aisle and very narrow seats. Fortunately, the flight was not full, so we had a little more room - not much more. The flight was OK and we arrived back home at around 3:30 PM.
We received our offer letters along with lots of other forms and information last night. Everything is as we discussed with them and we will sign the offer letters and return them before Monday. It looks like we will turn the page to our new adventure. We will begin training on January 9 - location to be determined - and we have until that time to get relocated to Vista, CA.
The trip to Puerto Rico has been cancelled and we received confirmation for that. We still have to cancel our reservations at Thousand Trails in FL for January as we will head directly south form here and probably stay in New Orleans for Christmas. The plan is to then travel to AZ and make arrangements to have our storage unit cleared out, and have everything sent to another facility in or near Vista, CA. We aren't sure yet about the logistics for that. Anyway, there are lots of details yet to be worked out, but it is for sure that we will be taking a break from the workamping routine for a time. We believe we will again take up travel following our experience at the Retirement Communities, whenever that may be.
There are only 7 working days left at Amazon. We will be very happy if, during the remainder of our stay in Campbellsville, we can avoid the frigid conditions we had last year. It is currently 31 degrees outside but it has warming up during the days into the high 40's and low 50's.
With so much to plan over the next couple weeks, it seems that the time will fly by and we will be on the road to begin our next chapter...
