Down to Four Days

It seemed like yesterday would never end since we knew it was the last work day of the week for us. It's hard to believe that we are now down to only 4 more working days before it all ends at Amazon. What a long, long road we have traveled since the end of June when we arrived in Campbellsville.

We now have 3 days to tie up a lot of loose ends for travel plans and Christmas plans. Our thoughts right now are to head straight south - to New Orleans - for Christmas. Then we would take about a week to travel to AZ and take the available time before we start our training to sort through some stuff we have in our storage unit.

Now that we have relocation assistance from Holiday Retirement, we can move most of what we think we will keep to the new location into another storage unit there. I have contacted a couple storage companies in Vista, CA to get quotes on space for both household goods storage and RV storage for our fifth wheel. The household goods storage space would actually cost us a few dollars less than we are spending right now for the same size space in AZ. The RV storage would cost a lot more than we paid in AZ though. Both are located in Vista which makes it real convenient. We are not going to rush into any decision regarding the fifth wheel for several months until we know for sure that the new job is going to work for us.

We've heard back from HR at Holiday regarding names and contact information for all the people we need to deal with over the next couple weeks to get everything scheduled and finalized. Our list of contacts is growing rapidly. The most important details are, of course, training schedules (including travel logistics) and relocation. They will be worked out today, if possible.

Then, tomorrow, we plan to travel for the last time to Louisville to do some Christmas shopping and to finally activate Josie's new phone. We are looking forward to getting back into a strong Verizon Wireless area to use all the nice new features we have on our phones that we upgraded this month. This part of Kentucky provides only "fair" signal reception, and it only provides for very basic use of our phones.

We also need to begin getting things ready to leave here - finally...
