DONE!

It was a lot different than we expected yesterday. Saying goodbye to our friends at work, especially our supervisors and manager weren't as easy as we thought it would be. There were hugs and tears and sadness as we said our goodbyes. The meeting for our exit interview and final comments by the HR department occurred at 3 PM, on schedule, but we were disappointed when, at 3:30 PM following the meeting we were asked to return to work until the 4:30 PM end time. Of course, we went the distance and gave our usual strong effort the rest of the way.

We had our other friends - Scott, Valerie, Jeff and Marsha over last night at around 7 PM to have a final get together - have some wine and conversation - before saying goodbye to them. Jeff and Marsha are done as they worked the same shift that we did, but Scott and Valerie have today to go as their final day. They are all heading back to Michigan for Christmas to spend the Holidays with family and will leave their rigs here in the campground during that time and drive back to pick them up after the New Year arrives. I had the camera out and ready to take pictures but we were so engrossed in our conversation that I forgot all about using it until they were gone. I'm sure our paths will cross again sometime down the road.

Rodger and Sue will stop by this morning for some coffee and cinnamon rolls following their shift today which ends at 5:30 AM.  They have a busy work schedule ahead - right into January - before they leave. In fact, they are due here anytime now as I write this entry.

Our plan is to leave here around noon today and drive approximately 180 miles to Dickson, TN, just southwest of Nashville. There is rain expected and it looks like there is a chance we will be driving through rain all the way up to when we arrive in New Orleans on the 24th. The temperature is 42 now with a high expected in the 50's, so there is no chance for snow.

It's off to our next experience and we are excited about the trip. We feel tremendous relief that this Amazon experience is now behind us. It was a long road, but very rewarding. Until tomorrow...
