Everybody probably knows by now that the St Louis Cardinals upset the Texas Rangers in the 7th game of the World Series last night. The Cardinals weren't even projected to make the playoffs, let alone win the Series. They were once 10 1/2 games behind in the wild card race for the playoffs, and made the playoffs on the last day of the regular season. Good for them.
The other upset, and closer to home, was the loss by Austin's team in the state championship playoffs. They were the top seed and lost to the 16th seeded team, 14-7. Even though Austin scored the only touchdown, it appears that his team overall may have taken the 5-4 team that beat them for granted. That happens a lot in sports. You look past your opponent thinking it is a sure win. It is a good lesson for everybody on the team and I'm sure this loss will help them for next year. It was a fabulous year for Austin and his team and he, along with his team, should feel proud of their performance and accomplishments.
It is 34 degrees outside as I write this entry. With early snows in the higher elevations, it doesn't seem like a mild winter is ahead. Our high was only 46 yesterday with more rain. We are hoping it is just a freak weather front and will warm up again - soon.
We are heading into the busiest time at work and we remember the fast pace from last year. The good part of that scenario is that the time should go faster at work and the weeks remaining will sail by. The nice, warm days ahead in Florida are looking more welcome every day...
