Turning the Page on August

It almost sounds like a broken record, but we brought in September the way much of August was - with rain. Throw in cooler temperatures - 37 this morning - and we have an early Fall season. I'm almost certain that we have seen the last of the 80 degree days as even the days ahead that have a clear and sunny forecasts are only into the low 70's.

The work schedule for September includes a lot of overtime hours for the entire staff. Our front desk manager, Judy, is trying to get through the rest of the season with a bare staff and not hire any replacements for the employees that didn't work out and subsequently left. Actually, it is better that way as most of the remaining staff works well together. Josie has signed up for a couple extra shifts each week but I am sticking to our original schedule. I don't want to get worn down and so tired that I don't do the proper job of preparing for our trip south in several weeks. It is tough figuring out a schedule anyway as we will most likely stay over a week which throws out our original plans of taking a leisurely trip to AZ. With a later start, we will have to rush through the snow-prone areas before the middle of October.

Unless something so attractive comes up to replace our wonderful summers in Jackson, we will return again next year. There have been times when we swore we wouldn't return, but when we consider all the benefits, it is hard to turn away. Of course, it is way too early to make that decision...
