Jeepless in Seattle

It was a somewhat emotional experience for us yesterday while emptying the Jeep and driving it to the Ford dealership in Issaquah. They had made an offer to purchase the Jeep and we just had to bring in the set of keys, registration and clear title. It has been 8 years since I purchased the Jeep in Phoenix and we had driven it for over 121K miles during that time. Except for normal maintenance and repairs, it served us well.

Thanks for the ride!

It is now the sole duty of our truck to provide the transportation for us until we can replace the Jeep when we arrive in WY. Of course, we go from averaging over 22 mpg to averaging about 11 mpg with the diesel fuel required for the truck. It will be nice, in a way, to ride in the luxury of the truck, but it will also be tougher to park and to maneuver in small areas. There aren't that many places we need to go before we leave on Tuesday, but we will make sure we see Kristine and the kids again before we leave - probably today.

The search is on, full swing, for the best deal to find our Jeep replacement. There are now a few dealers in WY and ID that are vying for our business. There is not a whole not separating the deals at this point so we most likely will go with the local dealer in Jackson if he can locate the right vehicle. That saves us a trip to ID with the truck and driving both vehicles home after taking delivery. The main concern about the Jackson dealer is his size - he is a small Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep dealer in town and doesn't carry much new car inventory. We'll see how that goes...
