Deer Lodge, MT

We left at exactly 8:30 AM yesterday for the approximately 250 mile trip to Deer Lodge, MT. It was again a straight trip on I-90 and we stayed close to the freeway in Coeur D'Alene, ID so it was a quick start to the trip. We immediately passed Lake Coeur D'Alene:

The panhandle portion of Idaho is only about 70 miles wide so it didn't take very long before we entered Montana. We had clear skies for almost the entire trip and the Montana countryside is beautiful in this part of the state. Below are a couple shots of the countryside, with one being a real nice cabin that had a great view:

As planned, we arrived at Deer Lodge and our campground - Indian Creek Campground - at 2:30 PM, including the lost hour for the time zone change. The campground is built on open land which is fine with us for this time of year. We like the clear view for our satellite and also the open site to allow the sunshine to keep us warmer:

We never unhitched the truck as we planned to just stay in the fifth wheel for the night. The weather was great until about 9 PM when a storm went through this area with horrific winds. We thought we were getting a tornado but realized they don't usually get them in this part of the country.

The extra time in the rig gave us a chance to respond to some of the emails that we have been receiving regarding a replacement for our Jeep. It seems that the particular model we are looking for is in short supply and dealers aren't dealing very much on them. We decided to attempt to wait until October to buy the new car when we return to AZ and save the extra money by traveling with only the truck. It may be tough while working in Jackson, but we will give it a shot. The truck can use the extra use anyway and we can put some miles on it.

Today we travel to Ennis, MT which is only about 120 miles from here. We wanted to stay one night in Ennis since we have a contact there that has been sending us information on homes and land in that area which is convenient to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We've never been to that town, so today we will get a chance to see it firsthand...
