Business Picking Up

It is getting busier each day at work. Usually, the weekends are very slow and not many people work the weekend days, but it was noticeably different yesterday. The added staff was apparent and so was the increase in merchandise moving through the facility. There is a message board near our break room where management posts interesting statistics each day. The message yesterday indicated that 1.0 million items would be received on Saturday (yesterday) and the volume will build until the Friday following Thanksgiving when 2.4 million items are expected. Remember, that is only for our facility and for one day. Outbound is expected to meet or exceed those volumes for shipping. The combined totals for all of Amazon's facilities must be staggering.

How about a swing of 34 degrees in the low temperature between Friday AM and today - 24 vs 58 this morning. It's amazing how the weather is so unpredictable this year. Friday's high was 52 and today it is expected to go into the 70's.

We both are having some problems with the dust situation at work as we have sore throats and stuffed sinuses at the end of each day. At least we think it's the dust causing the problem. Having just gotten over a cold last week, it's not any lingering effects from that. Anyway, it's off to day 3 of work for this week - 1 more after today...
