First Real Problem

Yesterday was not a very good day for us. It started well enough with our new landscaper performing all the necessary tasks to get our plants back on track. He and his crew worked from about 6:30 AM until almost 11:30 fixing the entire system. They repaired a few leaks in the system and placed the proper drip nozzles on the plants that needed them and trimmed everything to where it looks perfect. They also set the system program properly to water the trees and plants as they are suppose to be watered. He is scheduled to return briefly again today to install a couple plants where some were missing.

The bad part of the day started with the mail. We received a compliance letter from our HOA informing us that our gate on the side of the house does not comply with their standards. They feel that the wood and the wrought iron frame are in disrepair and they have given us 14 days to fix the problem. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the gate as it has a rustic look. The wood is in perfect shape and the wrought iron frame is a bit faded. So what. Besides, that is the way it was when we bought the house so why wasn't that pointed out to us at that time. The letter gave us 14 days but by the time we got the letter, we only have 7 days left.

The more serious situation occurred last night. We realized it was getting warmer in the house and no adjustment we would make to the air conditioner could cool down the inside. The temperature rose to 85 degrees so we shut down the air conditioner and started the process of contacting our home warranty company to get service scheduled for today. We haven't heard from the service company yet, but expect to have them out to fix the problem sometime today. They better, because the inside temperature is now 87 and it will only rise until the repair is made. In all the homes we have owned over the years, we have never had our air conditioner go out. I guess it was our turn...
