Walking Mishap

It was such a nice, bright day outside that we took a walk on the bike path that runs along the Flat Creek near us. We use this pathway for biking and hiking and it is only one of the many choices for hiking near us. Our intention was to walk all the way to the fields where the cattle graze at the far west end of town. The flowers are all in full bloom now, and as we started out, we took this shot of the flowers growing at the library across the street from our campground:

The walk took us through lots of familiar areas and when we reached a point about halfway to where we wanted to go, it happened. Josie was evidently looking up at something and caught her foot on the edge of the pathway and down she went. She landed on her face on some gravel, and got scratches on her knee and hands and arm. The worse damage was to her chin, where she now has a black and blue circle about  two inches on her chin. It looks like she took a good punch to the chin. Fortunately, no real damage occurred and we completed the hike.

As we reached the turnaround point, we came to an area where Jackson Hole residents can plant gardens in a designated plot within the fenced area. This is what it looks like:

It was a good idea for folks that don't have the room to plant gardens or, for some reason, aren't allowed gardens at their homes. Anyway, we were anxious to get back home so that Josie could nurse her wounds. We ended up walking 5.5 miles and except for Josie's mishap, it was a good chance to burn some energy.

Our final day of the work week is today, and we are looking forward to the festivities for the 4th of July weekend...
