Testing the Waters

Along with every other activity and all the things we normally do every day, we keep a keen eye out for workamper opportunities that may be of interest to us. I responded to one of these last week when there was an ad for an assistant manager team at an RV resort that was located near Palm Springs, CA. We like the area, most of the time, and were curious to get more info on this long term opportunity. Fortunately, our backgrounds, experience and references are usually good enough to get us to first base with these opportunities. We heard from the company yesterday that is doing the hiring for this opening. The Resort is located in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains, near Palm Springs and with the address of Banning, CA, and is called Banning Stagecoach KOA.

We heard from a Vice President of the investment company that runs the campground and we had a nice conversation with him about the positions. The campground appears to be very nice, but we have heard some negative comments from other workampers over the years about working in the KOA franchises. We don't know if this is run as a "typical" KOA campground or not, but at least it is worthy of additional investigation. Any opportunity that would take us away from our Jackson, WY ties and our growing attachment to Lake Pleasant will have to be a "too good to pass up" opportunity. We'll let you know how that investigation turns out.

We performed our scheduled tasks yesterday morning - picking up the hearing aid, Josie's paycheck, depositing that at our bank, and grocery shopping. We also did our exercise routine in the afternoon and generally had a busy day. Whenever we are presented with a workamping opportunity that may be of interest, it generates a lot of computer investigation and discussion which occupies a lot of our time. That is always interesting time, if not always fun time. We will do some more of that today along with getting some laundry done and Josie perhaps going to the salon for a pedicure and manicure. That is definitely something she looks forward to doing, so we'll attempt to make that happen. We're on a streak of calm and warm, sunny days, so we are hoping that continues...
