Good News from Illinois

The big news from yesterday was hearing the results from Austin's visit to the Western Michigan University Campus in Kalamazoo, MI over the weekend. We haven't gotten the full report yet, but the net of the visit was that Austin was given an offer for a full 5 year scholarship. He verbally committed to the offer and will sign the offer on college recruit signing day which is a couple weeks away. His patience paid off and based on what I see of their football roster, he should get an opportunity to play this year as almost all of the running backs are seniors from last years team and will be graduating in June. It is a Division I school, and they have a tough schedule that includes Iowa, Northwestern and Michigan State in the upcoming season. We will get a full rundown of the trip today from Patty. We will all become Western Michigan fans from now on, and may get to see one of his games next Fall after we leave Wyoming in October.

Our hike never materialized yesterday as we got a late start to the day. We had a late breakfast and by the time we started to talk about the hike, we had begun other activities - Josie working on her afghan and I was working on a cross stitch. It looks like the hike will be next week - or sooner - but we definitely want to start early as it does heat up now during the day. We did get to our workout at the fitness center though, so we did get our exercise.

Today is MLK day so that means no mail or no banking for today, not that those are big events for us. All of our banking is done online and our mail only comes once a week anyway, so it is pretty much a normal day for us. It is probably that way for most folks, but enjoy the holiday anyway - and watching the Inauguration on TV - sure...
