Cold is the Story

The big story here is the frigid temperatures. We had a low of 23 yesterday and even though it wasn't a record for the area, it was for us. We can remember a few days when the temps would go into the 20's but not so low or for so long. It has been so cold that we went through a whole 9 gallon bottle of propane in a week. That's a lot of propane use for one week when they usually last for several weeks or months. We normally use our fireplace more which is electric, but we are paying for the electric on this site and that is more expensive than the propane. If electric was included, the fireplace would be on all the time. That's one reason for the serious consideration for Lake Pleasant for next year where the electric is included.

Most of the day was spent getting ready for our short trip to Laughlin today. Josie got a haircut and did some laundry. I didn't do much other than try to organize what we are taking on the trip. My Colonoscopy is on Thursday morning but I have to begin taking laxatives and discontinuing other foods on Wednesday. We need to just make sure that the timing for this is such that the laxatives don't begin working before our arrival home on Wednesday.

We are looking forward to our Laughlin trip today. The Golden Nugget will be a new experience for us and we hope that the hotel reviews are accurate. This will be the fourth different hotel we've stayed in in our travels to Laughlin. So far, they have all been terrific and we hope our luck is on the good side while there. It would be nice if this trip is as successful as our week that we spent here in October when, essentially, we won enough to cover the expenses for the week. We know that doesn't happen all the time, but you have to think positive. Our planned departure this morning is at 10 AM and we expect to arrive around 2 PM for check in at the hotel - see you from the Golden Nugget tomorrow...
