Successful First Test

It was our first real test of handling a heavy volume of guests at the front desk. We had 134 check-outs to handle before the check-out deadline at 11 AM yesterday morning. Not only that, but most of those check-outs involved a reservation for the same room for next year's Car Rally to be held on the same dates. We handled them flawlessly with only a couple of unique situations that required our manager's help. All 3 of the Lodge managers were in yesterday morning to make sure there were no problems handling the group and they left shortly after 11 AM when all the check-outs were handled. It is a very different look around here now with all the classic cars gone.

In addition to handling the crowd at the front desk, we had to make sure the coffee pot and hot water container were kept full for the departing guests. That is another of our responsibilities regardless of how busy we get. That was also handled with no glitches and the managers were very pleased with the way the whole morning went. I guess that means we are ready for anything that is thrown at us now at the front desk.

We keep waiting for the summer weather to arrive. It has been cold the last few mornings - 32 outside this morning - and we are told by the locals that this is unusual for this time of year. Sheesh. It is the middle of June and we are wearing our long sleeve shirts and jackets to work. It sure beats 100+ degrees though as it has warmed up into the 60's and 70's during the day. The forecast is for warmer days by Thursday when we are scheduled to take our rafting trip on the Snake River at 9 AM.

Thursday will be a busy off day for us as we also have an appointment to take the Jeep in for standard maintenance at the Jeep dealership here in Jackson Hole. We haven't had a tune up on the engine for years, so we felt we should take care of that before problems begin to develop. Only 3 more days on the work schedule for this week...
