Car Rally and Chair Lift

We wanted to stay close to home yesterday so we planned a couple local activities. Starting with a walk around the grounds of our Lodge where the 35th annual Classic Car Rally was just getting underway. We had been told about this weekend since we started and that it would be one of the busiest of the summer season. Josie and I were glad that we weren't working when all the check-ins started as there were sure to be lots of people trying to check in at the same time. As we walked around the grounds, the cars were located everywhere. These were some of the ones that made it into the courtyard - so far:

It is exciting and will be the subject of more discussion this weekend with more neat shots expected.

The next stop for us was at the Snow-King complex in town which is where the main activities for winter take place, plus many for the summer such as the chair lift and horseback rides. We wanted to take the chair lift to the top of the mountain, so we purchased 2 lift tickets at 1/2 price as local Jackson Hole employees:

and began the climb to the top:

It was a little scary for me at first as I am afraid of heights, and the chair rose to probably 50 or 60 feet off the ground which wasn't bad. The worst part was when it stopped to let people on or off and it felt like we were sitting at the top of a ferris wheel, rocking back and forth.

The ride was worth it though as we got some really nice shots of Jackson Hole and the Mountains. Starting with this shot of the Virginian Lodge where we work - you can see the swimming pool in the middle of the courtyard and the classic autos around the grassy area:

This was probably the best shot of town from the top that showed the mountains and the whole Jackson Hole Valley:

The last shot was taken on the ride down when we took a picture of the Fairgrounds where the Rodeo will be held every Wednesday and Saturday night throughout the summer:

Even though the weather wasn't as nice as Thursday, it was still very good and allowed us to enjoy both days. It's now time to begin a new week and with the Car Rally in house this weekend, we should have some new experiences and fun times with the guests. We hope everything goes smoothly, as it is the first real test for us...
