We met Dave and June at a popular restaurant in Jackson Hole - Bubba's BBQ - and had an early lunch. Actually, Josie and I ordered lunch and since Dave and June had a late breakfast, they only ordered a salad. It was fun catching up on each others' travels over the last 2 years which is how long it has been since we've seen each other. A quick shot of them is below:
They spent the last 9 months in Ferndale, WA, and it was the first exposure for them to WA state. It's a shame that they only spent the winter months there as we all know the winters are mostly overcast and damp. Even at that, they really enjoyed the area and would return another time. They also have spent some time working at the same campground in Creede, CO that we almost went to before our commitment in Vista, CA. They said it was a good thing that we didn't go there as they left their commitment early because the owners at the campground were very difficult to work for. At any rate, we talked about all the friends that have returned to Cody and about future plans for travel. We left them at 12:30 to visit the Tetons while we went home to get ready for work.
The activity level rose again yesterday as we were very busy - mostly with walk-ins. It was the final work day for the week and we now get to have some relaxation for a couple days. We have to drop off the Jeep at the local dealership in town for a tune-up and then head to our float trip at 9 AM. The folks at work that have taken this trip suggested that we wear a bathing suit under our clothes and put the wet suit that is supplied by the guides over that, and keep our clothes dry in a bag to change back into following the trip. We think that is good advice. The weather appears to be very good - mostly sunny this morning with a low of 43, and a high expected to be in the mid 70's. Great weather to run the rapids on the Snake River...
