It was a slow morning for us. We went to the restaurant that is on site here to have breakfast and didn't get on the road to our destination - Jackson Lake and the Jackson Lake Lodge - until almost 11 AM. It didn't matter much though, since it was only about a half hour to an hour's drive from here.
We once again stopped to check on the Moose and the calf that were just inside the Park. Once again, she was lying in the same spot and the calf was out of sight in the bushes:
We didn't stay around very long thinking we would stop back on the way home to try to see the calf in action. Shortly after leaving the moose, we saw the southern part of Lake Jackson on the way to the Lodge:
It was a crystal clear day and it was warming up nicely, so we picked the perfect day for this trip. We made another stop on the way to the Lodge, and that was the Jackson Lake Dam:
We didn't see any fish caught by these fishermen, but we know there are lots of fish in there.
Our arrival at the Lodge was around noon and after walking through the shops in the Lodge, we went outside to sit on the Veranda and have something to drink while looking out at the mountains:
It didn't take very long before we spotted this elk, slowly browsing in the vast area between the Lodge and the mountains:
We were enjoying the view and the beverage so much we decided to order some chips and salsa and stay a little longer. It was a very relaxing time and after about an hour, we took the trail that was off to the side of the Lodge that went to a higher point to view the open area and the mountains. It was a beautiful walk and we captured some more of this beauty as you can see from these shots:
One can never get tired of looking at these views. Josie took many pictures of wildflowers and we will have a special entry soon that summarizes all of the beautiful flowers that are seen in this Park, and in Yellowstone.
Our final stop for the day was a side trip to the summit of Signal Mountain which was very close to where we were at Jackson Lake and was on the way home. The weather made the drive worthwhile as we could see for miles and miles around in all directions. Below is one shot taken from the summit:
We stopped at the moose location again on the way home, and she was still lying down in almost the same position as she was earlier. We are having a hard time understanding how the calf could be developing properly with such little exercise. I guess that's normal. So far, we've only seen them lying down.
Following a treat at DQ in town, we arrived home at around 6 PM and saw that the cars were starting to show up at our Lodge for the Classic Car Rally being held this weekend. There will be cars parked everywhere, including in our courtyard and the front lawn for the weekend. We should have some nice shots of that event before the weekend is over...
