First Eight Hour Day

Our first regularly scheduled 8 hour day was yesterday. The really nice thing about it was that when the day ended at 3 o'clock, we were finished. There was no staying over to work through other issues, nor was there any ecall duty last night.

We worked with a young (41) lady - Donna - that is single and living with a male friend about 30 miles away. She is very nice and has only been working here for about a month, so all of us on this regular, day shift, are pretty new. The day went without any real problems and we enjoyed the time working together. We work with her again today, then tomorrow we work with the Managers' daughter, Chelsea, and then on Tuesday and Wednesday with Jim whom we started working with last week. So far, we like the people involved here that we've met and believe it will be a fun summer.

It is fun talking with the customers about their trips to the National Parks. One couple described how they came upon this moose giving birth to a calf on Friday and it sounded so exciting. They said it was just after the entry gate into Grand Teton National Park and they described how she birthed the calf, licked it down, and helped it take its first steps. Experiences like that are naturally part of your timing to arrive in certain areas. That is also why each trip to these parks is different, even if you've seen the territory before. You never get tired of the wildlife experiences.

The day today, and again tomorrow, starts at 7 AM and goes to 3 PM. It should be another fine day at The Virginian in Jackson Hole, WY...
