It was a fairly early departure - 9 AM for the short drive to the Pleasant Harbor RV Resort on Lake Pleasant in Peoria, AZ. It will be our home for the winter, and into spring - at least until Mother's Day when Josie's commitment ends at the flower shop.
The trip was uneventful until we reached the usually treacherous section of highway I-17 near Black Canyon City. There are many accidents in this area, and yesterday was no exception. The traffic was backed up while an accident was cleared, and we started to take pictures as we approached the Bumble Bee exit:
The accident took on a gruesome appearance as we passed the crew that was salvaging what was left of a big rig:
It appeared to us as though this tangled mess was retrieved from down the hill where it drove through the guard rail.
We arrived at our destination at Lake Pleasant at close to noon:
We spent a lot of time in the office while checking in as we talked about old times we had at this location. In fact, we are on the same site (183) we had for a year back in the early 2000's when we first arrived in Arizona. The park has changed quite a bit since then.
We spent a good amount of time setting up as we will be here for about 7 months.
We also received our new grill from Camping World that we ordered to have delivered here at the same time we arrived. There are still some things that we need to do to complete the set up, but we have all day tomorrow before we leave early on Wednesday for our flight to Chicago.
We have these shots that were taken as the sun went down and is a great example of the sunsets that Arizona is famous for:
It's good to be here, and we are looking forward to a terrific winter season in another of our favorite locations...
