Final Day at Camp Verde

Our final day at the Thousand Trails Preserve in Camp Verde was on a beautiful, sunny day. It went to 81 degrees yesterday and all the way down to 36 at night. We had the air conditioner on during the day for a short time, and the heater at night.

The morning started with a short walk around our section of the park which included a stop at the pool that is located behind our space at the lodge:

There are actually two lodges at this facility - one is the family lodge and campground store that is located in a different area, plus this one where the adult pool is located. The park is very spread out and it is probably close to a mile from the gate to the last site located at the bottom of the hill on the Verde River. It is one of our favorite parks in the Thousand Trails system.

The main activity for yesterday was the (attempted) resurrection of our fifth wheel to look clean and shiny once again. It has been over six months since we were able to wash and wax the exterior to get rid of the dirt and dust that has accumulated. We located a mobile power wash service that was advertised in the information we received when we checked-in on Friday afternoon. It is Gary's Mobile Power Wash, and they were here for almost four hours yesterday performing the task:

Josie and I sat outside in the beautiful sunshine and watched the entire effort. The rig looks much better, and is glistening in most areas of the exterior. There are some areas though where the white paint is oxidized and the wax didn't produce the nice shiny gloss that we had when the rig was new. That is a common problem and one that can only be remedied by a new paint job which is not in the near future for us. It still looks terrific, and we aren't embarrassed to drive it down the highway.

We went into Cottonwood last night to the Fry's store to gas up and pick up a few items in the store. Our final night was spent revisiting the casino for the last time on this trip and once again, Josie had the hot hand. I lost my stake and Josie left with her entire stake for the two nights. Not bad at all.

Our final leg for the trip south ends today with our arrival at Lake Pleasant. It is a short trip - about 75 miles - and we expect to get there before noon to get set up for our season long stay at that nice park on the lake...
