Walk to Smiths

We rode our bikes last week on the trail to Smiths grocery and yesterday we walked the same trail. There is a new Starbucks opening in the store, and Josie had to satisfy her urge for a latte. We set out on the trail behind the post office and almost immediately saw this butterfly on a bush:

It flew away an instant after the shot was taken.

This is a really neat walk through some nice country on the trail that winds along the Flat Creek until it comes out at the shopping center where Smith's grocery is located. We went to the Starbucks counter and there were about 10 people standing around behind the counter - training. The stand doesn't open until the 20th, but the manager gave us a Café Americano for our interest and to give us a taste of the product.

I sat on a patio swing outside while Josie went to the bathroom, and I took this shot of the view that is one that would be nice to have in any backyard (minus the cars in the parking lot):

We continued on to walk back home and I took these other shots of the nice walk on the trail along the creek. Starting with a stop in a small park where Josie sat on a tree branch along the creek:

and this one, of one of the several bridges we crossed:

In all, we walked nearly 5 miles and had our exercise for the day before going to work at 3 PM.

Our plan is to ride our bikes in the Tetons today, but we are wondering about the weather. It is cloudy and cool, but according to the forecast, today will be the best of the two days we have off this week. Our plans may change for the two days depending on how it looks later this morning. One thing is for sure and that is that we will be taking advantage of our free time in some way. Stay tuned...
