Bee Detour

For the last few days, we have seen a few bees inside the fifth wheel and have been wondering where they came from and how they got inside. We were getting ready for our bike ride when Josie saw three more in the shower stall of our bathroom. That was it. Somewhere, there was a nest being established and they were finding their way in through some opening. I found the area but didn't want to do anything without any ammunition.

We went to the store to get a few grocery items and we picked up a can of Hot Shot Wasp and Hornet spray to spray any nest that we might discover. Josie took a walk - about 4 miles - around the neighborhood while I searched the outside of our rig and looked for bees flying around areas that might have an opening. I found it behind the refrigerator where bees were fling in and out of the small openings in the refrigerator cover. Armed with the spray, I removed the cover, but did not see a nest. I sprayed the area behind the cover and also behind the upper cover behind the refrigerator. I watched several bees attempt to fly through the area again but they ultimately flew away. So far, we have had no further invasions from the bees, so I hope we got them eliminated early, before any nest was created.

Our bike ride that was scheduled for yesterday will take place this morning before we go to work at 3 PM. We have researched the trail map and will try to ride the trail south and west of town. It looks like a beautiful morning so far today, so we hope it holds long enough for us to get in a good ride. It will be breakfast and then we will hit the trail...
