Keeping With the Program

First of all, I think we have the bee problem under control. There were a couple bees that got into our fifth wheel yesterday, but I believe they came in while we had the door open and not through the rear of the refrigerator from outside. Time will tell.

The weather was nice enough for us to continue our exploration on our bicycles. This time, we rode them from the rig to the start of the path behind the post office which is about 3/4 of a mile from the campground. We picked up the path and rode through the southern part of Jackson along the Flat Creek as before, but this time we took the portion of the bike path that is headed west toward the town of Wilson and is under construction for much of the distance. We picked up the new section - for us - at the Jackson Hole Middle School:

It took us past the church that we will attend one of these Sundays:

and into the countryside where there are farms and ranches along the highway to Wilson. The trail went by one of these ranches where the cattle were close to the fence:

This is also where I stopped to check the trail map we use to see how far the trail went before it ended:

We rode under the highway at this tunnel:

and the trail, as much of it that is completed, ended at a road that was about half way to Wilson:

Eventually, this section of the trail will be completed by next year which will take us all the way to Wilson and onto the Teton Pass.

The ride back was along the same trail and through familiar territory:

This is not one of the favorite rides for Josie as we went through lots of trail sections that crossed the streets where she had to get off her bike to walk. She is getting better and feeling more comfortable on her bike, but we have a way to go yet before her confidence reaches the point where it doesn't matter where we go.

The total distance was over 8 miles and didn't really cause us to work up any kind of sweat. It was mostly level with few hills. It didn't satisfy Josie's exercise requirements, so we went for a walk when we returned and added another couple miles to our daily routine.

The exercise regiment is helping our weight loss program and we are both in new territory, weight wise, that we haven't seen in over 20 years. We are closing in on our goals, but still have a way to go this summer.

Today is our "Thursday" and we are looking forward to our free days so that we can do some longer trips and do some of the things we have been looking forward to, such as a return trip to Yellowstone and using some of the comp tickets we still have. Also, the County Fair is coming up, and I submitted my entry form for that yesterday following our morning exercise...
