We had been noticing a water spot on the ground under where our water heater is located. I investigated that a couple days ago and discovered that the water pressure relief valve was dripping some water following a normal maintenance procedure of opening the valve. The valve was coated with a calcium or lime deposit that occurs over time from using hard water. I went to ACE Hardware yesterday to purchase a liquid that eliminates that corrosion. The problem is that the corrosion must extend up into the valve where I can't reach, so I will have to replace the valve. The heater works fine, and we don't have any other concerns with it at this point, so I'm looking for a valve replacement that I can get online. As soon as I get a quote on a valve from the manufacturer of the heater, I'll order it and replace the old valve.
As a result of time lost attempting to fix the problem, and the fact that Josie had to do laundry, we didn't get to our goal of cleaning out our basement. That will require emptying everything from the basement storage, sorting through it, and repacking it for our summer travels. There are about 7 or 8 more days off that we can do that chore, so there really isn't any rush at this point.
We also returned our non-slip shoes to Walmart for a refund. It turns out that almost everybody at work wears tennis shoes and the special shoes we bought weren't comfortable anyway, so we got our money back on those. It didn't make much sense to purchase special shoes for a job that we were going to work for only one month. That's probably why not many folks are wearing them. Besides, the tennis shoes serve the same purpose for the non-slip requirement.
It's back to work again today. The game is between the White Sox and the Rangers, so the crowd should not be overwhelming. Actually, we would rather see the large crowds as the time goes faster when we're busy. There are only 3 more weeks of games, so March is moving right along...
