Our day yesterday was saddened by an email from our friends at Happy Trails in Surprise, AZ. The couple - Carole and Dick Cole - own the lot next to the one we rented for almost one year in 2009. Carole indicated that she had to place Dick in a Hospice in Livonia, MI. (their hometown) so that he may get proper care for a condition that was just discovered - Lung Carcinoma with Boney Metastases. Since we were "tentatively" planning to spend most of the winter in AZ, we offered to help them to cover their expenses by renting their lot from them during the winter. However, we also found out that they had sold their lot to the owner of the lot next door to them. We last saw them in January while we were staying at Happy Trails during our training for the Holiday Retirement experience. We had breakfast at the Village Inn in Surprise:
We pray for Dick and Carole and know that they are near their family for help and support. They are a wonderful couple.
We are still in the storm track and had another couple of storms pass through yesterday. We have had 4 straight days of measurable rain and that is after having only 2 days of measurable rain in the whole month of June. We desperately need the moisture, so we can't complain. Besides, the temperatures become spring-like when it rains and that makes it very comfortable.
Our next 2 days at work are on the evening shift (3-11) and are not our favorite days. The hours are OK but, as mentioned previously, we don't especially like working with Jim. The good news is that we are only 2 days away from fun time...
