More About the Lodge

I decided to take the camera to work yesterday to try to get some more photos of the Lodge. It is a unique place to work, not only because it is in a beautiful area, but because the interior of the building is loaded with the trophies of the owner that he had taken over many years of hunting in the area. But first, the walk from our fifth wheel to the lobby takes us past a couple of noteworthy items. Starting with this shot of one of the busses that loads up at around 7 AM each day when we start working:

and this one of the summer planters and barrels that decorate the courtyard:

Here is a shot of our front desk where Josie and I work:

The view from behind the desk is something like this, starting with the left side:

and then the right side:

There is a beautiful and large painting of these Rams that is behind the desk and is a favorite of ours:

The entire theme for the Lodge is a reflection of the life of the owners, Glen and Virginia (last name escapes me). Glen was killed in an auto accident in Jackson several years ago and Virginia - whom the lodge is named after - still resides in San Diego, CA. It is one of the original hotels in Jackson and was founded in 1965. There were 2 fires that destroyed most of the Lodge over the years and it was rebuilt each time. The RV park, in the rear of the Lodge, was built in the 1980's on the rear of the property also owned by the original founders.

Finally, this shot is taken of the bronze "muley deer" that is outside the front entrance and is the first thing people see when they drive up to register or enter the lodge:

That gives you a little bit of the flavor of the Lodge. It is a unique and wonderful place to work and is typical of the Jackson Hole old west theme...
