It was the usual, fun time with Donna on the early shift yesterday. We enjoy working with her as there is always pleasant conversation and we all help out each other behind the front desk. We wish our schedule was with her all 5 of our days.
The crowds keep coming and we still fill up the Lodge each night. The phones are also still ringing all the time for reservations and we wonder when the phones will begin to slow down. Probably, not until at least mid August when the summer is winding down. They weren't kidding when they told us it can get very busy at times. We have one more day with Donna, today, and then with Chelsie tomorrow. She, as mentioned before, is the daughter of the manager (Judy) and is leaving for a 5 week visit to Costa Rica on Tuesday where she is taking a combination vacation and performing some humanitarian tasks. She has a degree in Anthropology, but has not found the right job in this area. Then we have our 2 dreaded days with Jim. Oh, well.
We heard from our friends Rodger and Sue last night, and they are working at a lodge in northwestern Maine where they have worked the last 2 summers. They plan to return again to Amazon in Campbellsville for the third straight year. We told them we are scheduled to work at Amazon in Fernley, but will most likely pass on that opportunity and try to find something in the south somewhere. It was at Campbellsville two years ago where we first met them. We talked for almost an hour and it was good to hear from them again.
That about sums it up from Jackson...
