Our Turn for Rain

Wouldn't you know that the streak of dry days would end on our days off. We had gone 25 days without measurable rain before yesterday. Of course, we need the rain as it is very dry and was the reason for the cancellation of our 4th of July fireworks in town. Our schedule changed as a result. We bumbed around all morning hoping the sun would come out and by 1 PM we concluded it wasn't, so we took a drive anyway.

We went to the northern part of Grand Teton National Park and went to an area that is rated as one of the best wildlife viewing areas. There was no wildlife except these geese that were on the Snake River:

We stayed for quite awhile to glass the area with our binoculars and we saw nothing more except these kayaker's that were coming down the river:

There was another Chapel in the area - the Chapel of the Sacred Heart - that we stopped briefly to visit and it was not anything like the Chapel of the Transfiguration that we visited earlier in the week. This one was a donated by a couple in remembrance of 9/11 and had no other historic significance. It didn't even have a view of the Tetons from the building.

One thing became very obvious to us on this trip. The crowds are growing and the wildlife is becoming more scarce. The ride home was through some other areas where we had seen wildlife in the past and there was nothing except a long line of vehicles driving through. It was kind of a bummer afternoon.

Today is cloudy once again and it looks like we will adjust our schedule yet again for the day...
