Tough Game

The highlight of the day was the game between WMU and Bowling Green State University (BGSU). Both teams were undefeated in the conference and it was a showdown for number one in the conference. BGSU is leading the East Division, and WMU is leading the West Division. Both teams have a terrific offense and a not so great defense. We knew it would be a high scoring game. As it turned out, it was touch and go for most of the first three quarters but BGSU didn't suffer as many breakdowns as WMU in the fourth quarter and won the game 41-27. WMU had several dropped passes that could have made a big difference in the outcome. A couple of them in the fourth quarter could have resulted in TD's. Austin played a terrific game and had several tackles on the Special Teams Unit.

As an aside, BGSU was the champion for pushing through the largest single new account computer sale in my career. Dr Lynn Bellamy, head of the BGSU Information Technology department at that time created the Consortium - the J Preston Levis Regional Computer Consortium that included the City of Toledo and University of Toledo along with the City of Toledo Law Enforcement Agencies. Dr Bellamy became a close friend during that time in Toledo and I have many fond memories of my association with BGSU. Enough on that.

The loss clouds the bowl picture a bit and WMU needs to do well in their final two games to have a better selection for a bowl game. I'm confident that they will succeed and finish the season on a positive note.

Josie's flower shop is redecorating and, as a result, is offloading - or selling at great prices - their old inventory. She had already bought the desk chair she uses in our kitchen and she got a real good deal on some panels on Tuesday. Yesterday, we hung a couple of those panels over our bed and they look pretty good:

I'm sure there will be other opportunities for good deals before the new inventory rolls in.

That about wraps up our Wednesday...
