It was another night of rockin'-and-rollin' with the wind. There were steady winds over 20 mph the whole night and we had gusts in the 30-35 mph range. I still have not been able to figure out why this area has so much wind. The month of April, with just today and tomorrow to go, has been the windiest month of the year for us. There were no days at all during the month, for the first time, where we had winds under 10 mph for an entire day. There were 5 days where we had steady winds over 20 mph. Maybe it's the time of the year, but it is something we don't remember ever experiencing in all the time we have stayed here over the years. We get trash blown into our space from all over, including cigarette butts which we know aren't ours.
The only problem we have as a result of these high winds is that another of our topper awnings is torn enough to require replacement. The new one we put on the bedroom slide is terrific and is quiet. The one on our kitchen slide is tearing a little more with each windy day and will be replaced, for sure, when we return here in October. It should hold up until then. The third topper awning over our living room slide is holding up fine, even though that material is also beginning to show its age and will need to be replaced within the next year. It's a lot like any other home - there are always things to replace and/or fix over time.
This week can probably be called the calm before the storm. Josie hasn't gotten real busy yet at her shop, but the containers for the specials for the Mother's Day rush are beginning to show up. I am also accumulating all papers that we can so that I can use them for deliveries. I need them to pack around the arrangements so they don't shift while driving. That is a real challenge this year as we don't subscribe to the newspaper, but get the news online now. At least the temperatures haven't cracked the 100 degree mark yet...
