Awning Removed

I finally removed our topper awning on our bedroom slide that has seen its useful life:

The fabric begins to disintegrate over time, and this particular awning was further damaged by the winds. Once I found the right tools, it came off very easily. Our replacement awning arrived yesterday and I will install that when Josie gets home from work as it takes two people.

I made a trip to Home Depot before removing the awning so that I could pick up some silicone spray to use on the awning tracks and also to use on the rubber gasket around the slide. They need to be lubricated occasionally to prevent them from drying out. With the awning removed, I can reach the part of the rubber gasket that is under the fabric.

The weather forecast has us reaching the 90's today for the first time this year. It will reach 94 today and 97 by Thursday. The 100's can't be far away. It seems like once we hit 90 in this area, we go right to the 100's within a week or so. It is nice though, that the days are getting longer and we have daylight until after 7:30 PM.

We are thinking about taking a drive to the Green Valley area south of Tucson either this weekend or next. There are several 55 communities in that area that we've heard about and would like to see. We have also received some inviting deals from the casino hotels in Laughlin, and we certainly need to take advantage of those at least once before we leave. There are some signs that we are going through casino withdrawal, so we will take care of that situation...
