The storms are still forming in the afternoons and we had another occasion yesterday where a thunderstorm went through before working at 3 PM. We don't remember getting as many of these storms last year, but we are getting our share this year to make up for it. It makes it difficult to plan any outside activities. The forecast is for gradual clearing, so it looks like the threat will end by the time we get our days off this week.
It is a changing mix of guests at the lodge as we have gotten lots more walk-in traffic than we have had so far this year. Also, the phones are beginning to slow down as we are running out of time for folks to make reservations before the end of September when it turns into a ghost town in Jackson. Like last year, and probably every year, once the kids get back to school in September, we get the older crowd that seems to travel without reservations. We have witnessed too many occasions where people are caught without a place to stay in Jackson thinking there will always be rooms. In cases when the town is sold out, the people have to travel to Alpine - 25 miles away - to find the nearest available room. Those occasions will be fewer now at this time of year.
We plan to wash our truck this morning and also take a walk that we haven't done since the unpredictable weather has arrived. We both can notice the difference in our bodies when we don't do the regular exercising as we always feel much better on the days we either walk or ride our bikes. Sometimes its hard to do on days we work, but we need to find a way to get it done. We are doing a great job maintaining our weight program and we definitely see the difference when we don't get our exercise on a daily basis. The change in our eating habits has paid off and we are getting close to new milestones that I hope to report very soon. In the meantime, we will plug away and do the best we can with the temperamental weather...
