Comparing Days

While I sit at the table this morning writing this entry, I'm watching the Caravan Tour bus load up and prepare to leave. We have at least one tour bus come in every day, and Caravan is the old standby and the one that comes in every day during the summer. They offer a tour that starts in Rapid City SD and travels to Mt Rushmore, the Crazy Horse monument, Custer Battlefield in MT, Yellowstone for two days, Jackson and the Tetons National Park, and finally ending in Salt Lake City. The tour lasts for a week, includes all the hotels, baggage transfers and at least two meals a day. The price is about $1200 per person which is a real bargain these days. The buses are all modern Prevost models and we see the same Tour Directors come through all summer long and we establish good relationships with all of them. We also meet a lot of nice folks that travel on these tours.

It is also interesting for me to compare activities and events from the same day in previous years. Last year, for example, we were caught up in watching the summer Olympics. I also talked about the cool mornings and how we sometimes have to put the fireplace on in the mornings to heat up the fifth wheel and how, by the time it is late afternoon, have to put on the A/C to cool down the inside. That is the same this year. There is never a problem sleeping at night as we always need the covers on our bed. This is also the 1546th entry in the blog. There has not been one day in over 4 years that I have missed an entry which is about as detailed as you can get about traveling full time in an RV. There have been a few close calls where we had trouble obtaining Internet signals in some locations, but somehow managed to get it done. It has been a terrific experience that I hope continues for the foreseeable future.

It looks like this week's weather forecast isn't going to change to allow us to have clear weather on our days off. The forecast is for a 30% chance of showers each day, so we aren't planning any hikes that are certain to happen. We are going to schedule a visit to the Jackson Hole Playhouse to see the new production this year - Footloose. There is one of our employees at the Lodge that has a role in the production - the Principal of the high school - that we are anxious to see. He is a professional singer and choreographer that works part time as a bartender in our Saloon. We last visited the Playhouse last year to see the Ballad of Cat Ballou for Josie's birthday. This year, we will eliminate the dinner and just go to see the production.

Today is our "Thursday" as we count down another week at the lodge...
