Auto Repair Done

We arrived at the auto repair shop around 8:15 yesterday morning to drop off the Jeep. Of course, you can never get the problem to repeat itself when you have a technician diagnosing the problem. The noise was not there even as we drove it around the block, and could not get it to happen. There was a slight noise when he manually accelerated the engine under the hood - enough to understand what we were talking about. He correctly diagnosed the problem as a tensioner problem and we left the Jeep for them to service.

While the work was being done on the Jeep, we went to Clermont to pick up a package at the post office. We also stopped and had some lunch and the auto shop called at 1:30 to tell us the job was done and the car was ready for pickup. When we picked up the car and Josie drove it home while I drove the truck, she said it was like driving a new car. They also replaced a belt and completed the whole job at less than what the Jeep dealer quoted us. Of course, you should never take your car to a dealer to have these things done as they bilk you for everything they can get. The dealer also told us about other things that needed repair - including rear brakes - which this auto shop said did not need to be replaced. The net of the whole exercise was that we spent $242 (after a 20% discount on labor as a Disney Cast member)  instead of $780 that the dealer had quoted to fix the Jeep. We should be set until we get new tires in a few weeks or so.

Since we are planning to leave here at an earlier date than originally planned - by about 2 weeks - I decided to hold off on the meeting with the HR people until late next week. I don't want to take a chance on having my use of the Disney free pass impacted by any change in my work schedule. Our plan is to go to the parks next week on my days off so that we can get the full benefit of these free passes. It shouldn't matter, but we want to be sure.

At this point there is nothing planned for today, but I'm sure that will change after we go to the clubhouse, get our free paper and coffee and do our exercises at the fitness center. It could be a lot worse...
