Most of the expected church group came in yesterday, and so far, they are a very quiet group. They are members of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Cottonwood, AZ. As was mentioned before, the owner of the resort and the General Manager are both members of this church so the members get 50% off their lodging, RV sites and tent sites. You would think that with this kind of discount they would be appreciative, but some of the check-ins were looking for even more favors - such as staying an extra night for free. Some of the people haven't been camping in a long time. One couple had no idea why they were not getting electricity at their site. Bob drove up to the site and turned on the circuit breaker. Sheesh!
All in all, the group has been quiet and they gather in small groups at different sites and don't make a lot of noise. It is also quiet during the day with a lot of hunters staying here. They leave long before sun-up and don't return until dark. Of course, some of them take lunch breaks at mid day and the store is filled with people dressed in camouflage. Only a few elk have been taken so far. At least, that's what the report is from the meat processors that are set up across the street. That amazes us since we have seen so many elk in the forest.
It was a long work day for us - especially Josie. She went in with Bob at 7:30 and worked until about noon when she clocked out (Bob worked until 3 PM). She then went back at 4 PM to work as a waitress in the restaurant until after 9 PM. The restaurant is now set up in Jack's Place in the back of the lodge and we have a new cook for the few nights it will be open until the season ends after next week. The new cook is Jamie (one of our managers) and she did a great job with the meal.
That's about it for now...
