Longest Day

The longest day that we have had to work here was yesterday. We started at just before 7 AM and, except for a half hour break, didn't leave until 6:15 PM last night. We will have another long day, 8 to 6 today as our managers have Monday and Tuesday off and we need to cover the day without them.

The day went pretty smooth though. Except for a couple long backups at the dump station the crowd was spaced evenly throughout the day. We did 71 dumps yesterday, so there were a lot of people coming out of the forest to go home, or store their rigs. We had a lot of people paying to extend their storage spaces another month, and we took the usual reservations for future dates. We've spent so much time working this weekend that we haven't had time to plan our days off for this Wednesday and Thursday. We'll include some rest though along with a couple errands.

Our search for winter work will heat up now that we are getting closer to the time we will leave here. One option that we haven't really seriously considered yet is to pick a place we would really like to spend the winter and go there, set up our rig, and then look for work. That's not at the top of our list though. Maybe in a couple years when Josie is on Social Security and Medicare we can consider something like that more seriously. There are still some options that have not been totally rejected yet, so stay tuned...
