Laid Back Day

It was a long day yesterday. We are getting a little anxious to see the long days end and begin a new chapter in our adventure. The fact that four of the staff members have already departed places more pressure on us to cover the work that was done by them. Of course, the lodge isn't quite as busy as it was before but we still have to cover the shifts.

The hunters came in at the expected mid-day break in their hunt to shower and do laundry. For the most part, they are a nice bunch of people. There haven't been a large number of elk taken yet because the weather has been a little warm and the bulls aren't bugling yet. It has started to cool down now and the activity is expected to pick up. The meat processor from across the street related a story to us in the store yesterday morning about a guy that came into his site at 2 AM blowing his horn to wake him up to process a huge bull (5 x 7) he had taken right at darkness. It took the hunter that long to get the animal in his truck and to the processor.

Our day today will include a large breakfast and a trip to Flagstaff to run errands. Bob needs a haircut and Josie has to have her nails done. We also need some "stuff" from Sam's Club. It will be nice to relax a little too...
