House Progress

I drove by the house yesterday afternoon to see if any progress had been made. There was a huge stack of wood - actually, wall panels - that was sitting in the front of the house. At first I thought it was all the lumber required to frame the house but when I looked closely at the stack, I discovered that they were completed wall panels and other wood treatments required to assemble the home. It is like a huge Lincoln Logs kit, but of wall panels and arches. I guess the new techniques make it easier to build the homes when they have all the panels constructed and just need to place them on the foundation. I took a couple shots of the wood stacks:

Now that the wood is on site, the rain is suppose to arrive and stick around for a few days. That will most likely result in a short delay before we see any of these panels put in place. Of course this will be one of the wettest winters ever since we need dry weather to finish the house. All of the framing is scheduled to be completed by March 13 when we have a pre-drywall meeting with the Construction Manager.

Today we will travel to Scottsdale to complete the paperwork on the refinancing of our Jeep. As mentioned, the Credit Union that is financing our new Ford Escape is also refinancing our Jeep - at a terrific rate of 3.45%. I can't ever remember car financing at that low rate.

There is a huge RV Rally - The Camping World/Good Sam Annual Rally- being held at the Phoenix International Raceway over the weekend. It is a huge gathering and show and we talked about going, but with the house now in our immediate future, we may not attend. Our plans to downgrade to a smaller RV are on hold right now...
