Our Winter

We should be thankful that we had such a beautiful January as, so far, it hasn't been over 70 degrees yet in February. Our highs for the last four days have been 64, 64, 61 and 59. Compared to the sub freezing temperatures in the Midwest, it is probably tropical. Anyway, the low so far this morning is 40, so I guess our winter is finally here. We still haven't had any precipitation though, and the streak has now reached 45 days.

I was watching some of the post-Super Bowl analysis on the sports stations yesterday and the biggest question was whether the Broncos were insulted or embarrassed. It was probably neither, as the Seahawks play in a much tougher League. The Broncos are the best offensive team in history and averaged over 36 points per game all season, but their league is soft. Actually, the game that the Seahawks had with San Francisco for the NFC Championship was a closer game than the Super Bowl. There are probably two other teams in the NFC Western Division that could beat the Broncos. The main conclusion in the analysis is that the Seahawks, with their very young team, will be around for the next several years as a contender. The fact that the entire team is under contract for the long term supports that analysis.

Josie had a normal day yesterday, time wise. She is getting much busier, but not enough business - yet - to warrant extra hours. Those days are still ahead. She begins her schedule at the 19th Ave store tomorrow, so that will be where she works until after Valentine's Day.

Our taxes were started yesterday but we are still waiting on a couple W-2's from Aramark for our spring training work last year. It's tough doing much more than enter income on the taxes until all of it can be reported. Hopefully, they will be in our mail expected today. As we have mail delivered from Florida only once a week, it takes a little longer to catch up with us.

We're closing in on our training date - Sunday - for our Aramark training class for this year. We expect to get our schedules for the games at that time. There may also be another (second) class scheduled to review our job responsibilities before the season begins at the end of February. If we get the same work schedule that we had last year, Josie will be able to work a few extra hours at the production center each week. We will know about that in a week or so...
