When we left Vista, CA in mid May this year to go to Jackson, WY, we took another storage unit in Vista to place all our things from the apartment. There was not enough time to load the truck, drive back to Surprise, unload the truck and get back to Vista to head out with the fifth wheel. The original plan was to make a stop in Vista on the way home from Jackson to retrieve our belongings in that storage unit. Of course, that never happened as we drove through Utah to visit Zion National Park, Mesquite, NV and spent a week in Laughlin.
We set December 5-7 to accomplish the transfer. I called the storage facility in Vista and notified them that we would be out on December 6. We also called U-Haul and reserved the truck for those days and arranged to have the same 2 men load the truck for us that we used in May. We went to our storage facility in Surprise and arranged to have a new space ready for us for December 7. We will arrive back here late on the 6th, park the truck at the storage facility and empty it into our new space on the 7th. Our plan is to also empty the old space into the new one on the 7th and 8th.
The manager at the storage unit in Surprise, Duane, has been very gracious to us. Of course, we were one of the first tenants in the facility when it opened in 2008. Our goal of eliminating the storage unit altogether was not realistic as we have too many new pieces of furniture and too many items that we won't part with at all that we have had for up to 40+ years. It will still save us money and bring everything together in one location.
Josie's meeting at the Design Center where she will be starting on December 12 went well. She completed the paperwork and is ready to go. Once she starts, she will not have a day off until probably Christmas Eve. It looks like I will be holding down the fort while she is gone those days. There is plenty of shredding yet to finish once we get everything consolidated in our storage unit, so I won't be idle. We both are targeting the Spring Training in March to work at the stadium in Surprise. That is the next target for working before leaving here in early April for a leisurely trip back to Jackson...
