Tucson, AZ

We didn't realize until yesterday that it has been over 2 years since we were last in Arizona. It almost feels like we're coming home.

The drive was uneventful and we did the 257 miles in just over 5 hours, including a few stops for gas and potty breaks. We were surprised that it was so windy when we arrived and, in fact, was windy through the night and the wind is still blowing hard. We have the weather channel on now to find out what the deal is with the winds and whether they will stop today.

The campground - Adventure Bound's Cactus Country RV Resort - is very nice and we have another pull-thru space which, again, allows us to keep the truck hitched to the fifth wheel. Below is a picture of our site:

We are still trying to figure out the logistics for our work to be done at the storage unit in Surprise. We don't have a place to keep things as we empty the unit, so somehow, we need to be able to go through everything, set aside disposables, and place everything back into the unit until after our training class which ends on 1/21. There is much to do with that unit in a short time.

Another thing we look forward to doing is visiting with family and friends again. That is one thing we miss while on the road. Hopefully, we can get caught up on what everybody is doing, and has been doing the last couple of years. The kids will definitely be bigger, and us old folks will look a little older. Our visits will most likely begin with our friends and neighbors from Happy Trails, Carole and Dick, probably today after getting settled in at the site. We have been communicating with them and look forward to seeing them again.

It will be an exciting day for us as we wrap up this long journey from Campbellsville, KY today. The total distance we've traveled since we left on December 20 will be just over 2300 miles. It was a fun time, but we're glad to be back in Arizona, even if it is for a short time. We would like to arrive in Surprise around noon today which gives us lots of time to get set up and check out the changes since we left there in 2009. The trip is only 167 miles, so we will leave around 9 AM and, hopefully, miss all the traffic in Tucson and Phoenix...
