The first thing we did in class yesterday was, of course, review the final exam. Mary, our instructor, didn't grade the papers but handed them out randomly for each student to grade as we reviewed each question. There were 62 questions and the person that graded mine happened to be sitting in front of me and she indicated that I only had 6 wrong on the exam. That turned out to be one of the highest grades and Josie found out later that she also passed.
Mary spent some time reviewing the 2 weeks and asking for suggestions for future classes and then we started our one-on-one (couple) talks with her. As we were the only couple staying at the hotel one more night, we were last on the schedule. It was around 3:45 PM by the time we finished up and left to come back to the hotel. All of the other couples left for Portland as their discussions with Mary ended. She told us that she thought we would do very well in our Community and our personalities would have a calming effect on the residents. We appreciated her kind words and confidence and indicated she would be visiting us soon on a scheduled trip to Southern CA.
It's finally over, and we are excited about going to our assignment. The people we will be working with at the start of our adventure in Vista seem to be very nice and certainly have the respect of the Regional Director.
Our flight leaves at 6:05 this morning from Eugene and neither one of us slept very well last night as we were afraid we would overleep. The weather forecast is for icy roads and winds, so we didn't want to rush to get to the airport.
There are lots of action items on our agenda over the next several days and we aren't looking forward to the actual drive to Vista on (probably) Tuesday or Wednesday. We'll be checking out of the hotel shortly and be on our way...
