When we first decided to go to Palm Springs, we made several reservations at the membership campgrounds so we would be guaranteed a space for the time we plan to be there. It happened that we had two reservations at Thousand Trails that were consecutive: December 7-10, and December 10-16. I called Monday AM to cancel the reservation we had on 12/7, since we decided to stay a couple extra days to help out at this place. I received an email last evening confirming our cancellation for December 10th. Yikes! That meant we had no reservation until December 16 at the Western Horizons park. That won't work. Of course, the reservations desk was closed when I received their email so I had to wait until 6 AM this morning to call them. With only 1 day to go before we needed the reservation, I didn't sleep a wink last night waiting until I could call this morning. I made the call, and it was just as I thought - they cancelled the wrong reservation and charged us with a no-show fee for the December 7 reservation. It was fixed and everything is OK now. Whew!
This is the peak season for the Palm Springs area and reservations are hard to come by. That's why the reservations that we have made are chopped up because the window of availability is small for the parks we have to choose from. We are set though until January 7.
The storm finally passed through yesterday and the sun came out early in the morning. The winds stayed around all day though and made for a difficult time packing things away from outside. We decided to wait until we get to Palm Springs before removing the dust and sand from everything. One day to go. Josie is coming down with what appears to be cold symptoms, so we hope she is okay by the time she starts work at Palm Springs Floral on December 17th. The excitement is building...
