Everything except the carpet that we have at our entrance is packed away from outside and ready to go. The only thing we need to do outside before we hitch up is disconnect the electric, water and sewer and we will be on our way. We still have to pack away the inside though, and that shouldn't take long. Check in time at Thousand Trails in Palm Springs is 2 PM and we only have to drive 66 miles.
We planned to wait around until Jeff, the owner, came in to get our last check from him but we had a couple phone calls. The first was from Sharon who told us (surprise) they were also leaving - on Tuesday - and that they have not heard from Jeff. She indicated that they had not received any response to their email giving notice and that we should not expect to see Jeff today. The second call was from Jeff just a little while ago and he said he had to be in San Diego today and would not be able to give us our last check, but would mail it to us. He also asked us to send him a "candid" email outlining our thoughts about the operation of the park. There is every possibility that the information we received from the park down the road a couple weeks ago about this park being in foreclosure is right on. If that is the case, we may never see the check. It's a good thing that it is only a small one, although they all are large when you aren't getting them regularly.
Mike and Sharon, the managers, had told us before that they were getting disgruntled with the way things were going. It appears that our timing for leaving is none too early. Our lesson learned here is, again, never take a job at a brand new park.
We'll keep everybody posted on the developments at Blu In Park as we hear them. In the meantime, it's off to Palm Springs...
