While driving to the post office at 10 AM to pick up our mail I received a call from Kate, the park manager, asking if I was still interested in the job at the campground. Of course I was, so she asked me if I could start on Friday at 8 AM. That solves a couple problems for us. Now we can stay in one spot until at least Spring, and we have an income that will support us through the winter season. Josie is hoping that she will be asked to work a couple days a week at the flower shop after the holidays so that would be a bonus. My job will be maintenance, and the hours will be 9:30 to 6 PM, 5 days a week. That's 40 hours per week. We will be pushing to get Josie a job here also in some capacity. The park has several cabins and rental units that require constant housekeeping, so we'll see. This is an older park in the Thousand Trails network and there is a lot of work that needs to be done.
The job pretty much eliminates any chance we had to visit with family over the holidays and we are sad about that. We know everybody understands though.
Josie baked some more cookies yesterday - like we need another 5 dozen. I guess we'll have to find some "tins" and package them to send to our grand kids. She is getting a little nervous about starting her seasonal job at Palm Springs Floral. We plan to make a dry run today so that she will know how to get there as I will also be working. One of the best purchases we have made is the GPS that is in the Jeep. It has saved us many, many times when in new areas. It sure eliminates wrong turns and gets us where we're going in the shortest time.
It's hard to imagine a better place to be in the winter, weather wise. It is beautiful almost everyday with highs in the 70's and lows in the high 40's. We hope it continues like this...
