Yesterday was one of those uneventful, lazy days. We did finally receive a check for our time in the coffee cart and in the cafe that we worked over the Thanksgiving weekend. It was nice to see. We drove into Brawley to the ATM where we deposited the check and stopped at Vons to pick up a few groceries. Other than that, we just sat around and didn't do too much else. A sand storm came in as we were arriving back at the rig about 3 PM and the wind has been blowing steadily, with a high gust of 35 MPH yesterday afternoon. There is rain forecast for San Diego, so we don't know if some of that will make it over the mountains to us or not. It would help settle down the dust, that's for sure.
We heard back from our potential job in Oregon and they have filled the winter position and said they would keep our resume on hand for the summer season. We suspect that they found someone with experience on their software, which we didn't have, or they found somebody that was local. Anyway, there are many reservations software packages out there and we have experience on two of them - Campground Manager and Campground Master. The system they were using was Rez. Eventually, we hope to get experience on all the major reservations software packages so that we can qualify for most positions that come up. We're OK with Palm Springs for now.
We work today between 8 AM and noon. It was originally a full day, but since it all is overtime due our working the full day on Tuesday, they shortened it. That's fine with us. Later...
